Directing the Sensory Experience: The Nervous System and Perception
w/ Marissa Neilsen-Pincus

Saturday, February 2nd – 10:00am - 2:00pm
at The Kingsland Ward

In immersive performance our senses are literally immersed in the experience – and the progression by which we perceive, process, and act upon sensory experience is fundamental to understanding how a scene works – both from an audience perspective, and a performer/director perspective. Participants will move through a somatic exploration of the process by which the nervous system perceives experience, and investigate how to use this information as a performer in and/or director of immersive work. We’ll explore how to set up clear expectations and consistent responses and how to listen to and be responsive to each individual audience member.

Letting Go: Risk Taking, Spontaneity, and Authenticity in Performance
w/ Tara O’Con

Saturday, February 16th – 11:00am - 2:00pm
at The Kingsland Ward

This workshop focuses on the ways we navigate the unpredictability of live performance and the improvisation that comes with being in the moment. Participants will have the opportunity to explore ways of accessing their own vulnerability and power by exploring how they embody presence, clarity, and storytelling, ultimately enhancing the audience experience as well as their own.
