Memento Mori, commissioned by party impresarios Winkel & Balktick, was a site-adaptable work created to celebrate Dia De Los Muertos. Audiences were invited to meet at a local watering hole where, after time to relax and mingle, their happy hour was interrupted by a mariachi band which led them in a procession through city streets to a surprise location. There, the guests witnessed a veritable death ceremony full of redemption, resolution, and rebirth. The final hours of a man with his family were played out in Third Rail Projects’ stunning visual style and exciting physicality. As the performance came to a close the audience was invited to join in the reverie.
